Für die jetzige Leipziger Buchmesse betrifft das nur einen Titel, The Elements of Baking von Katarina Cermelj.
Der ist dafür groß und gewichtig und für die angepeilte Zielgruppe hoffentlich hilfreich.

Just had to write an “I'll miss you" note to one of my favourite clients, the language services coordinator at a federal agency who has fallen victim to the latest round of cuts (thank god we didn't elect PP 😳🙄). She's been a joy to work with over the years, and I've happily gone "above and beyond" for her when I wouldn't for any other client.

I was planning to keep them on after I retire, but now I'm reconsidering. The suits never consider the intangible losses when they "rationalize."

Asking an experienced #translator to revise machine translations is like giving an experienced chef a McDonald's happy meal and asking them to turn it into a gastronomic experience. It's soul destroying.

When all the competent chefs switch careers because they find the work distasteful (ahem), all that remains is fast food.

AI has its uses, but its misuse will destroy expertise in translation on an unprecedented scale. But hey, it was a great career while it lasted.

Saw an invite on LI today to connect with someone working at a platform with AI in its company name.

The company name (preceding AI) rhymes with the item of clothing a Scotsman may wear. I think they've been around a while but now it looks like they're fully-ai.
