I don't expect sites to go out of their way to support text-only browsers, but to block them is another level.

Mosaic was developed at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA)[7] at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign beginning in late 1992
Before that there was gopher, a terminal/console text browser

I've just looked at my first site. Started 1 January 1998. Abandoned at some point after 30 March 2000, when the "Whats New" page announced "Reworked all source (html) files for the site. They are now HTML4.0 compliant and use a style sheet."
The site documented all the tricks and tips I could offer on the "Recorder" accessory found in Windows v3.11 for Workgroups.
Tried running it discover that back then Internet Explorer must have been case insensitive. My file naming style was somewhat inconsistent.
If there's unbelievable interest I'll correct the mixed case file names and upload it somewhere.

They're all a lot of fun except "modem mode," which I actually thought (because old eyes and late night and small text) was "modern mode," so when my browser just froze (as it does for some viewers, I guess) I figured that was the joke.

Czytam, że z wydaniem wersji 151 #Google #Chrome wyłączy już do końca (wcześniej były obejścia) możliwość korzystania z blockerów reklam, jak #uBlock Origin i podobne.
Kiedyś, kłopoty z blokowaniem reklam (ale nie tylko to) uśmierciły Internet Explorera.
Zastanawiam się, jaka będzie skala "odejść" od tej przeglądarki i na co osoby korzystające z Chrome ja zmienią. Dodam, że MS #Edge i #Opera deklarują podążanie za Google Chrome, więc w nich blokad reklam też nie będzie.
