I am a big fan of Pokémon Trading Card Game for Game Boy Color. It holds up very well 24 years after its NA debut and may still be the finest Pokémon spin-off game. I started a new game and was reminded of one part of it I dislike -- the *mandatory* tutorial at the start of the game. In this article, I undertook unnecessary efforts to try to follow my own path through the practice battle.
