So today I installed a used Nvidia #GeForce RTX 3060 into my workstation PC running #UbuntuStudio #Linux 24.04.

This feels sick. I mean, a #GPU board with 12GB of RAM, 3 fans, and taking three slots of space, connectors for 5 screens… I even had to remove a part of the lid from my beloved old Dell Xeon workstation to fit it in.

And even worse, my plain old AMD Radeon RX480 was fast enough for pretty much everything.

Yet, #Lightworks #NLE has a nasty bug, or perhaps it's not even Lightworks, perhaps its the old #amdgpu #driver, with this message indicating something, and then only re-starting Lightworks helps:
GLXOpenGLContext::makeCurrent() : Current context not NULL

This occurred like 30 to 60 times an hour, so editing video was close to impossible for me.

Needless to say, now with #Nvidia #CUDA and #OpenCL available, #DaVinciResolve is the obvious thread to my Lightworks installation.

Thank you for nothing, #AI, for making these boards so expensive even on the used market.

Ubuntu Studio - Native Instruments

I'm using Ubuntu Studio, now with Ubuntu Pro enabled... I just rebought Native Instruments awhile ago, and Windows isn't affordable since I only get $62 a month or less from SSI in a nursing facility

tar c <ordnername> | netcat <ip> 8080
und drüben
netcat -l 8080 > lala.tar
(Netzwerk von #VirtualBox im Bridge Mode)…

… läuft sofort, rasend schnell, out of the Box.

🧵 We want the two young fellows on that wall, they said, and then things went a little crazy because I didn't have 70m fibre #HDMI cables, so I had to mount the video switcher into the truss with the #projector and #camera and control it remotely via ethernet…

… luckily, the #GoStreamDeck software by #Osee runs in #Wine on #UbuntuStudio #Linux. I used a #ZowieBox to get the multiview over the network into #OBS on my laptop using #NDI.

… also there was no space directly opposite to the wall, and then these LED onion rings from above in the way… so I had to torture the “quick corners” setup of that projector quite drastically.

How to clock-sync a delay #plugin in #Carla using #MIDI clock on #UbuntuStudio #Linux?

I have a DIY hardware MIDI clock feeding all kinds of stuff, including my PC of needed. Yet Jack Midi does not seem to route MIDI clock messages at all.

So I need something to sync my Jack transport to MIDI clock.

So there's this guy on YouTube who claims to have solved the issue by writing midi-clock-jack-bridge “using AI”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Covwhqap27c

Here's his (?) code… https://github.com/ariel10aguero/midi-clock-jack-bridge

Okay, there's some compiler warnings, but it seems to do the job. I can use my #Tal #DubX #Delay and sync to plugin host, which translates to Jack transport, which is sync'ed to #MidiClock from an USB MIDI input.

Now I'm actually experimenting feeding #DecentSampler with #VenusTheory samples from my bass which has a #RolandGK3 #MidiPickup system (I got one of the rare GI-20 units).

EDIT: I fooled myself completely. While this looks good, it DOES NOT SYNC the tempo of my delay. See 🧵.
