Accessibility testing without disabled users is just automated checklist work. Lucy Collins' session from WordPress Accessibility Day covers how to actually include disabled participants in user research, and what "respectful" and "insightful" mean in practice. Box-ticking and tokenism are both mentioned, and both are real problems worth naming.

This can lead to conflict and the validity of the research being questioned.

However, there are ways to bring the project team with you and get their buy-in and support at every stage of a project.
