Drew haz a hobby... I don't post a lot about the model railway, mainly because I just have a tiny (120x60cm) test layout for now while I try to find enough time to build the benchwork for a bigger layout.

But anyway, I'm focusing on Switzerland with some overlap with neighbouring countries, and I buy most of my stock second hand because have you seen the prices of new stuff?

The pic shows my latest used haul which arrived today from a trusted UK supplier. For scale, the front left wagon is 10cm long. This little lot cost me about £100 which is less than half retail price. Not the cheapest of hobbies, but I'm a #railfan so what can I do?

Canada Day may be past for this year but you can still experience the gravy train at the astonishing ExpoRail national train museum on the south shore of Montreal.

People who have taken the European Sleeper between Bruxelles-Midi and Berlin Hbf: I guess arriving in Bruxelles at 18:05 will leave enough time to catch the 19:22 sleeper? #trains #trainstodon
The Norwegian railway has a "signal error" code, a daily occurence in the Oslo metropolitan area these days. The error does not, however, as one might assume, mean there's something wrong with the railway signalling itself. It just means there's *something* wrong *somewhere*, and you're not getting the green light until it's sorted. It's the error code that indicates there's been an error. #NorwayFacts #Trainstodon

I haven't tooted about #trains lately, so it's a good time to fix that:

Someone set up a camera to record every train that goes by their flat, then runs computer vision software to make elongated images and get speeds and lengths. I'm jealous! https://trains.jo-m.ch/#/trains/list

A terrific resource for anyone researching #PullmanPorter ancestors, from the wonderful #Newberry #Genealogy Library in #Chicago:

"Teach with primary sources from the Newberry's collections. This FREE lesson plan teaches students about the #Pullman Company--one of the largest employers of #AfricanAmericans in the early 20th century--and the #porters who worked there."
