#OTD 9 June 1871, David Cushnie married Margaret Maize at Old Monkland, Lanark, Scotland. They sailed soon after to New York, on the steamship Caledonia, with David's six-year-old daughter from his previous marriage. The family landed in July 1871. They settled in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, where they had six more children. Their granddaughter was the stepmother to my dad and his four siblings.

🧩This Week's #ConnectionCheckers is Most-Connected 🌐
This week's game features WikiTree's most-connected notables — the profiles with the highest CC7 scores, meaning they have the most family connections within seven degrees. The featured profile is Brigham Young (Young-93), LDS leader and first governor of Utah Territory, with a jaw-dropping CC7 of 287,047 — and 55 wives and 57 children! Also in the lineup: colonial governors, Acadian leaders, New France settlers, and South African pioneers.
Find which of these record-holders is closest to you on the Big Tree, verify your connection path, and compete for a spot in the Connection Checkers Hall of Fame! Game closes June 16. 🏆

My grandfather Francis William Hankins in 1901. He was born in Sept 1897 - so depending on when in 1901 the photo was taken he was 3-4 years old.

This may be the earliest snapshot I have for my Hankins family. I think everything earlier was either a studio portrait or a photo taken by a photographer (large format, etc) - rather than a photo of a boy likely taken by one of his parents.

This week I have a guest blogger at Nutfield Genealogy, James H. McConihe, whose ancestor came from early Nutfield (Londonderry, New Hampshire). James has been researching his ancestry for years, and writes about the struggles with the multiple spellings of McCONIHE. https://nutfieldgenealogy.blogspot.com/2026/06/john-mcconihe-d-1760-nutfield-settler.html #genealogy #FamilyHistory
