je transmets une demande de ma bestie car je pense que c'est le bon réseau ici : "est-ce qu'il y a des autistes des trains qui ont des chouettes reco livres sur les trains dans le coin, par pitié" #train #mastotrain

Hey #TrainBubble and #MastoTrain friends, a couple of years ago I used the wonderful #NightTrain from #Munich to #Ljubliana but when I search now (for October) this connection is nowhere to be found. I tried #DB #SNCB #Trainline and #EUrail.

Does it still exist and where would I book it best?

In #Trains news:

Apparently #BNSF is spilling enough grain near Marias Pass that it will self-ferment, thereby acting as a brewery for the local bear (beer?) population.

(BNSF trains are then killing a handful of drunk bears every year, though, which is less amusing).

Drunk Grizzlies Keep Getting Hit By Trains In Montana

Since 1980, 63 grizzlies have been hit by trains and killed along a section of railroad near Glacier National Park. Many died because they got drunk on fermented grain spilled from railcars and couldn’t move fast enough to outrun the trains.

Well this is a fun mashup of my interests: characterizing noise in #LIGO #GravitationalWave observations from freight on the CN Hammond line (old #IllinoisCentral East of Baton Rouge, LA). LIGO's station is in Livingston, which older #MastoTrain fans may recall was the site of a toxic derailment in 1982.

Noise in the LIGO Livingston Gravitational Wave Observatory due to Trains

Environmental seismic disturbances limit the sensitivity of LIGO gravitational wave detectors. Trains near the LIGO Livingston detector produce low frequency (0.5-10 Hz) ground noise that couples into the gravitational wave sensitive frequency band (10-100 Hz) through light reflected in mirrors and other surfaces. We investigate the effect of trains during the Advanced LIGO third observing run, and propose a method to search for narrow band seismic frequencies responsible for contributing to increases in scattered light. Through the use of the linear regression tool Lasso (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) and glitch correlations, we identify the most common seismic frequencies that correlate with increases in detector noise as 0.6-0.8 Hz, 1.7-1.9 Hz, 1.8-2.0 Hz, and 2.3-2.5 Hz in the LIGO Livingston corner station.

I haven't tooted about #trains lately, so it's a good time to fix that:

Someone set up a camera to record every train that goes by their flat, then runs computer vision software to make elongated images and get speeds and lengths. I'm jealous! https://trains.jo-m.ch/#/trains/list

Trainbot watches a piece of train track, detects trains, and stitches together images of them.

"Chuis dans un train où y a des gens qui ont l'accent suisse", explique un gars au téléphone. Crois-moi ou non, jeune homme, mais c'est plutôt normal puisque tu te trouves en Suisse dans un train suisse! #mastotrain
Good morning. #mastotrain
Does #MastoTrain exist as a hashtag? Or #TrainStodon? Anyway, moral of the story is that the Amaterasu Railway is running their engines on old Ramen broth (or the fatty parts of it, more accurately), so the exhaust smells like fried rice -- and OH BOY do I have a new place to visit!
