Swipe through to see the data and read on below for what they found out: The tariffs “undeniably” raised prices for American importers and consumers. The Institute says those prices still remain elevated today. Economic research out earlier this year shows the higher costs are passed onto Americans at 96%. The unseen cost of tariffs: Trade policy uncertainty. It’s not surprising that the dozens of changes to US tariffs pushed up policy uncertainty to an all-time high in 2025. Why does this matter though? It undermines long-term business planning and investment in the US.
What’s also sky high? Tariff-related litigation. On February 20, the Supreme Court made a landmark ruling against tariffs. Before and after this ruling, more than 2,000 importers filed a suit to claw back a refund for more than $160 billion in tariffs paid to the government. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the manufacturing boom that was promised…it didn’t eventuate. The data shows manufacturing jobs continued declining in 2025, with manufacturers pointing the finger at tariff-induced cost pressures and economic uncertainty.

With the doublespeak of cunningly-named #LiberationDay, #DonaldTrump announced sweeping global #tariffs on #ThisDayInHistory in 2025. Consumer prices have steadily risen, which was obvious given tariffs are paid by American importers & consumers. #MAGA knows jack shit about econ.

So much for winning when you're stupid and enact stupid policies: trump's tariff-based trade policy: which countries gained, which lost — and who is footing the bill.

Good analysis.

One year after Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs, global trade flows have shifted. Trade data shows which countries gained, which lost — and who is footing the bill.

Happy Liberation from Liberation Day —
"While the ruling delivers relief from the IEEPA tariffs, which we estimated would shrink long-run US GDP by 0.3 percent, the Section 232 tariffs remain in place. We estimate they will raise $635 billion over the next decade, and cost US households $400 on average in 2026. Uncertainty continues..."

Supreme Court Strikes Down President Trump’s Tariffs

The Supreme Court ruling against the IEEPA tariffs provides immediate relief to US businesses and workers and is a welcome rebuke of President Trump’s overreach of executive authority to unilaterally impose significant tax hikes on the US economy.
