Resistance now and always!

As an international workers’ collective, we want to celebrate Liberation Day with you and commemorate the struggles of the resistance.

There will be delicious arepas from Colombia, as well as stories and music from the international resistance movement!

We look forward to seeing you❤️

We commemorate all those who fell victim to nazifascism, all those who were persecuted and displaced.
Under nazifascism, Jews, Sinti and Roma, queer people, people with disabilities, political opponents, unionists and resistance fighters were systematically persecuted and murdered.

Nazism was made possible by bystanders, silence and turning a blind eye. Remembrance is not a trivial matter, but an integral part of our fight to ensure that we recognize the injustices, oppressions and genocides of the present.

Today, racist, warmongering discourses dominates European politics. The right to asylum is effectively being shrunk to almost non-existence with the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum. Repatriation laws and centers are being enacted to speed up deportations and detentions.

To remember means to fight. Today and everyday. For social justice and solidarity.

🚩🚩🚩 Concert to mark Liberation Day from Fascism, featuring songs and texts from the international labour movement 🚩🚩🚩

“Now I know exactly why they did it,” writes Hans Drach in his 1935 song “Mein Vater wird gesucht” (My Father Is Wanted).

He describes, from a child’s perspective, how the fascists took his father away from him.

Looking back, he knows why he had to endure this cruelty:

His father was a communist.

In memory of his lost father, the son promises: “We will complete what he could not finish.”

Performed by:

Duzeni

The duo mainly plays Greek music on guitar and bouzouki.

For 9 May, they are bringing along some partisan songs from the Second World War that tell of the struggle against the fascist occupation.

They also perform poems set to music – including works by Yannis Ritsos, Iakovos Kabanellis and Kostas Varnalis.

Happy #liberationday everyone!

In the Netherlands, it is #Bevrijdingsdag today.

We celebrate our freedom from #Nazi-Germany.

Day 31, #365project

May 5th is Liberation Day in the Netherlands. On this day, the Netherlands celebrates the end of World War II in 1945. And people remember that freedom cannot be taken for granted. Many Dutch people fly the flag. The Dutch flag symbolises the Netherlands' freedom and independence.

And in the current state of the world, something to reflect on even more.
