Agi: Apple rimuove "Max" dall’App Store: stop alla super‑app russa voluta dal Cremlino
AGI - Apple ha rimosso Max, l'app di messaggistica statale russa, dal suo App Store, come annunciato dagli stessi sviluppatori russi dell'app.
Da mesi Mosca spinge i russi a installare Max, una super-app priva di crittografia che, secondo i critici, potrebbe essere utilizzata per tracciare le persone.
Ha limitato l'utilizzo di WhatsApp e Telegram, le due app di messaggistica più diffuse nel Paese, e ha costretto dipendenti pubblici, aziende statali, scuole e agenzie governative a utilizzare Max per le proprie comunicazioni.
"Max non è temporaneamente disponibile per il download sull'App Store", ha dichiarato l'app in un comunicato sulla sua piattaforma. La rimozione è avvenuta mercoledì sera.
Apple non ha rilasciato commenti e le ragioni della rimozione non sono chiare. Anche Google ha rimosso decine di app russe dai propri store online, incluse quelle sviluppate da aziende sanzionate in Occidente.
Le app già installate sui telefoni in Russia continuano a funzionare, ma i nuovi utenti non possono scaricarle né aggiornarle.
Le massicce rimozioni hanno dato il via a un gioco del gatto e del topo in cui le aziende russe, in particolare le banche, lanciano app camuffate da altro – come software di contabilità – per poi affrettarsi a dire ai propri clienti di scaricare la nuova versione prima che venga bloccata.
Lanciata nel 2025 dal gigante russo dei social media VK, Max è stata paragonata alla cinese WeChat, combinando funzioni di social media e messaggistica con l'accesso a servizi governativi, un sistema di carta d'identità digitale, servizi bancari e di pagamento.
Il presidente Vladimir Putin l'ha presentata come una piattaforma più "sicura" che soddisfa la richiesta russa di "sovranità tecnologica".
È preinstallata su telefoni e tablet venduti in Russia da settembre, ma non è disponibile nell'Unione Europea.
Max non utilizza la crittografia end-to-end e i suoi termini di utilizzo stabiliscono che i dati degli utenti sono archiviati esclusivamente su server in Russia.

“Max is not temporarily available for download on the App Store,” the app stated in a statement on its platform. The removal occurred Wednesday evening.
Apple has not released comments and the reasons for the removal are unclear. Google has also removed dozens of Russian apps from its online stores, including those developed by companies sanctioned in the West.
Apps already installed on phones in Russia continue to function, but new users cannot download or update them.
The massive removals have sparked a cat-and-mouse game in which Russian companies, particularly banks, launch disguised apps – such as accounting software – before rushing to tell their customers to download the new version before it is blocked.
Launched in 2025 by the Russian social media giant VK, Max has been compared to China’s WeChat, combining social media and messaging functions with access to government services, a digital ID card, banking and payment services.
President Vladimir Putin has presented it as a more “secure” platform that meets Russia’s demand for “technological sovereignty.”
It is preinstalled on phones and tablets sold in Russia since September, but it is not available in the European Union.
Max does not use end-to-end encryption and its terms of use state that user data is stored exclusively on servers in Russia.
