Ribaltata in Appello la sentenza di primo grado per Miriam Barreca, coinvolta nella strage di Altavilla Milicia del febbraio 2024. I giudici della sezione per i minorenni della Corte d’Appello di Palermo hanno assolto la giovane perché ritenuta temporaneamente incapace di intendere e di volere, e dunque non imputabile.
La ragazza, primogenita di Giovanni Barreca, era stata condannata in primo grado, con rito abbreviato, a 12 anni e 8 mesi di reclusione per il triplice omicidio della madre Antonella Salamone e dei fratelli Kevin ed Emanuel, uccisi nella villetta di famiglia.
Le perizie e la decisione dei giudici
Secondo quanto stabilito in Appello, Miriam non era in grado di autodeterminarsi nei giorni in cui si consumarono le violenze culminate nella strage. Determinanti sono state le due perizie psichiatriche disposte durante il procedimento, che hanno evidenziato l’incapacità della giovane di comprendere quanto stesse accadendo.
Una valutazione diversa rispetto a quella del primo grado, dove gli stessi elementi non erano stati ritenuti sufficienti per escludere la responsabilità penale.
Miriam era stata trovata dai carabinieri nel suo letto, a pochi metri dai corpi dei fratelli. In un primo momento si pensava fosse l’unica sopravvissuta, ma successivamente fu lei stessa ad ammettere di aver preso parte alle torture e agli omicidi.
La Corte d’Appello ha invece ritenuto che, in quelle circostanze, la ragazza non fosse capace di intendere e di volere, disponendo così l’assoluzione per non imputabilità.

The Court of Appeals overturned the first-instance sentence for Miriam Barreca, involved in the Altavilla Milicia massacre of February 2024. The judges of the juvenile section of the Palermo Court of Appeals acquitted the young woman because she was deemed temporarily incapable of understanding and willing, and therefore not liable.

The girl, the eldest daughter of Giovanni Barreca, had been sentenced in first instance, under abbreviated proceedings, to 12 years and 8 months imprisonment for the triple murder of her mother Antonella Salamone and her brothers Kevin and Emanuel, killed in the family home.

The expert assessments and the judges' decision
According to the Court of Appeals, Miriam was unable to make her own decisions on the days when the violence culminated in the massacre. The two psychiatric examinations ordered during the proceedings were decisive, highlighting the young woman's inability to understand what was happening.

A different assessment than that of the first instance, where the same evidence was not considered sufficient to exclude criminal responsibility.

Miriam was found by the Carabinieri in her bed, a few meters from the bodies of her brothers. Initially, she was believed to be the only survivor, but she later admitted to having participated in the torture and murders.

The Palermo Court of Appeals instead ruled that in those circumstances, the girl was incapable of understanding and willing, ordering her acquittal for lack of culpability.

Il sottosegretario alla Giustizia, Andrea Delmastro, abbracciato a un mafioso. La foto che vedete (scoperta da Repubblica) ritrae Delmastro insieme con Mauro Caroccia all’interno del ristorante gestito da quest’ultimo. L’esponente di Fratelli d’Italia – numero due del ministero della Giustizia e impegnato nella battaglia per il Sì – fa segno Ok con il pollice della mano destra. Il braccio sinistro intorno alla vita di Caroccia. Sul petto di Delmastro lo stemma e il nome del locale. Siamo nel 2023, all’epoca il ristoratore – che gestisce diversi locali nella Capitale – non era ancora stato condannato (la condanna definitiva con l’aggravante mafiosa risale al 2026). Ma i legami tra Delmastro e la famiglia Caroccia – come ha raccontato il Fatto Quotidiano – devono essere chiariti perché non si limitano a una cena al ristorante.
Il sottosegretario alla Giustizia, insieme con altri quattro colleghi di Fratelli d’Italia, infatti era socio della figlia di Caroccia, Miriam. Il giorno che la ragazza ha compiuto diciotto anni era stato siglato l’atto che ha dato vita a una società impegnata nella ristorazione. A quanto risulta al Fatto, però, quando Delmastro si è recato (in almeno un’occasione) a mangiare nel ristorante dei Caroccia non sarebbe stato riconosciuto da Miriam, la sua socia. Sarebbe stato il padre, appunto Mauro, a indicare il politico alla ragazza. Mauro Caroccia, ricordiamolo, attualmente è detenuto ed è stato ritenuto il prestanome del clan camorristico di Michele Senese, detto ‘O Pazzo, il più spietato di Roma. Una città dove ormai la criminalità organizzata, soprattutto appunto la Camorra, sta rapidamente mettendo radici.
Delmastro finora ha sostenuto di non aver avuto contezza del fatto che Miriam Caroccia fosse la figlia di Mauro. Ma la foto che pubblichiamo qui richiede risposte. The Undersecretary of Justice, Andrea Delmastro, embraced by a mafia boss. The photo you see (discovered by Repubblica) depicts Delmastro together with Mauro Caroccia inside a restaurant managed by the latter. The member of Brothers of Italy – number two at the Ministry of Justice and involved in the campaign for “Yes” – gave an “OK” sign with his right hand’s thumb. His left arm around Caroccia’s waist. On Delmastro’s chest is the emblem and the name of the establishment. It’s 2023, at that time the restaurateur – who manages several establishments in the Capital – had not yet been convicted (the final conviction with the aggravating factor of organized crime dates back to 2026). But the links between Delmastro and the Caroccia family – as reported by Il Fatto Quotidiano – must be clarified because they go beyond a dinner at a restaurant.

The Undersecretary of Justice, together with four other colleagues from Brothers of Italy, was a partner with the daughter of Caroccia, Miriam. The day the girl turned eighteen, the deed was signed that gave rise to a company engaged in catering. According to Il Fatto, however, when Delmastro visited (on at least one occasion) to eat at the Caroccia restaurant, he was not recognized by Miriam, his partner. It was the father, Mauro, who indicated the politician to the girl. Mauro Caroccia, let us remember, is currently in prison and has been considered the frontman for the Camorra clan of Michele Senese, nicknamed ‘O Pazzo, the most ruthless in Rome. A city where organized crime, especially the Camorra, is rapidly taking root.

Delmastro has so far maintained that he was unaware that Miriam Caroccia was the daughter of Mauro. But the photo that we publish here requires answers. What relationships did Delmastro have with Mauro Caroccia at least since 2023? Did he know about his links with the Camorra and the investigations that concerned him? And why did he end up becoming a partner with her daughter? What business relationships did Delmastro and the other members of Brothers of Italy have with the Caroccia family?
