"Calling all green thumbs and garden enthusiasts. The Kingsport Public Library will be hosting a seed swap event next week at the Kingsport Farmers Market.

"The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 15. Come downtown to swap seeds, share #gardening tips with like-minded folks and explore a variety of local vendors offering plants, books, tools and all things gardening. And all just in time for spring.

"You can also join in with the hands-on seed-starting activity where folks can plant seeds in water jugs with potting soil (while supplies last).

"'Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a budding beginner, this seed-swapping event is the perfect place to grow your garden dreams,' said Assistant Library Manager Stephanie Griffin."

Kingsport Beach in Winter
This was taken some years ago, on one of those special evenings when it was worth freezing your hands (and everything else) off to get the photo. The tide was fairly high and filled the beach with blocks of ice. The sunset tinted everything pink.

Sunset, low (very low) tide, near Kingsport, Nova Scotia

It is an amazing feeling, standing on the ocean floor (the bay, but it might as well be the ocean). Doing so at sunset is a once in a lifetime experience. The sand is mostly hard, but at times you can sink into areas, so you do have to be careful.
