I lament the fact that the City of #Salem budget is in such bad shape that the #libraries, #parks, and #seniorcenter are considered “optional” for funding. But here we are.

Please vote to keep these essential public services open and operating for the next five years. Your “Yes” vote on May 20 for the levy will support jobs and quality of life in Salem.

For those who may have missed it ...

Recently at the Naval Academy Library: "An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office resulted in a purge of books critical of racism but preserved volumes defending white power."

The efforts to bend people's (esp. students') minds through defining "the correct mindset" and banning sources / books accordingly continues.

Thus: Save the books. Collect them, preserve them, keep and protect them..

- [ ] I might have access to large number of m4b audiobooks. There are many long mystery series plus a good dash of good literature. What could I do with them?
- [ ] Give them to some library. Requires library have hardware, disk space and willingness.
- [ ] What libraries might be willing?
- [ ] Create my own server space and offer access to friends and families? I would require disk space and a collaborator. (nb I am retired)
- [ ] Split up the collection and offer smaller choices for libraries? Other options?

Went to the library today! It's been a while. I found three books to check out. I even found something in the new fiction section. I never find anything in that section so I consider this library run a success.

2. Jekyll & Hyde Consulting Detectives by Tim Major

3. Everyday Cook by Alton Brown

I'm most excited for Ruined, but I think all of them will be great!
