The useR! 2026 conference, bringing together R enthusiasts from the academic and commercial sectors, starts next week! I’m really looking forward to this event, especially since it’s taking place in Warsaw and will feature many experts in spatial data science. On Monday, I have the pleasure of teaching the "Introduction to Spatial Data Science" workshop. See you there!

• I am NOT associated with HR/recruiting in ANY way
• Therefore, these are NOT endorsements, and there are no ‘referrals’ or the like for me
• I am simply sharing SOME roles I have seen – in the hope that they are of use to someone
• As such, I am not (and indeed can not) in any way ‘vet’ these roles (i.e., PLEASE do your ‘due diligence’ / use your judgement (with the hideous prevalence of ‘ghost jobs’, ‘fishing’, fraudulent so-called recruiters, etc))
• Further, roles listed are in no specific order (i.e., simply as I ‘encountered’ them during the week)
• There is ZERO cost to access this list of spatial / GIS roles
• I am not (really) ‘mining’ US Federal government roles - with the ‘hiring freeze’, uncertainty, etc
• You can subscribe to the (free) weekly LinkedIn newsletter www.linkedin.com/build-relation/newsletter-follow?entityUrn=7397678824928366594 or also for free at earthstuff.Substack.com - if so inclined

@andreithomaz cute if you went to 4 colours would it be solvable in the same way as the 4 colour map algorithm or can line segments meet in more ways than polygons?

My latest article for Inquirer.net is now up and I take a look at map projections, and specifically at the Mercator projection popularly used by mapping services such as Google Maps. GIS professionals in particular might remember EPSG:900913 from the late 2000s. 🗺️
