The CCP4-BCA Protein Crystallography Summer School provides comprehensive training in macromolecular crystallography through a combination of lectures, hands-on tutorials and workshops.

Topics span the whole structure determination pipeline, from protein expression and crystallisation through to data processing, model building, refinement and validation. There is also a crystal manipulation and cryo-cooling workshop.

Participants benefit from intensively supervised computer tutorials and are encouraged to bring their own datasets to work on with help from experienced tutors.

The week also offers plenty of opportunities for networking with fellow students, postdocs and crystallographers during breaks and social events.

📣 I have two open postdoctoral positions on the trajectories towards a circular management of the resources present in human excreta and wastewater.

The first subject is on the actor networks associated to excreta source separation: the goal is to analyse the interactions between the actors and the emerging solutions and provide tools to represent these interactions in a way that makes it easier to identify levers and blockers.

The second subject concerns all technologies associated to nitrogen recovery from wastewater and the associated innovation trajectories. The goal is to characterize the current socio-technical regime, the landscape of emerging alternatives or technological upgrades, and how regulation may help or hinder recovery.

Everything (well, not actually, there is so much more) wrong about German university hiring in one picture:
- PhD position advertised with 65% pay of TV-L FU (i.e. 100% are probably 4.188,38 €/month)
- PostDoc advertised with 50% of the same bracket. Yes, lower than the PhD position
- Postdoc advertised with 100% of the same bracket

To be fair, the PhD position and the 100% #PostDoc are in the same institute, and the 65% PostDoc is in a different one, but all three are in the same faculty.

And technically 50% and 65% would mean that it's also fewer working hours....but let's be real, that does not actually apply here in reality.
