Needed some new ceiling vents for the basement to replace some old bulky and discoloured ones I installed years ago (after one fell out!). New store bought ones are $20+ a piece and still look bulky and ugly, so designed and printed some custom flush mount vents instead for <$1and they look awesome.

The two pieces of version two of my Starlet coolant overflow tank cap both came out really well, though the difference between 0.050mm resin layers and 0.20mm fff layers is very visible up close. I'm not sure what my best technique for attaching the ABS hose barbs to the flexi-resin (Siraya Tenacious) will be, but I've designed it so I can make the ABS piece clamp to the resin if I can't find a good adhesive that can hold the two together.

My PC filament arrived today, so I'm gonna do some testing to make sure my printer can actually *hold* a highish chamber temp before I start working on calibration prints.

Alright, well, following the critical flaw in my plan pointed out by @teotwaki (thank you again, I cannot believe I didn't think about fibers escaping) I'm gonna go ahead and try PC for the plug I'm printing for my friend's transmission, though I've also just discovered that the original is ABS, so I'll probably print one in ABS too then figure out which is better after some testing.

I have a 3d printing materials question for anyone who might have an answer:

Are there any particular oddities/"preferences" that pa12-cf has when printing?

I decided to go with pa12 (nylon) for its chemical and heat resistance because Im almost done designing a plug for a friend's car and its going to be in constant contact with their transmission and will likely have gear oil in contact with some surfaces.

Id also accept advice on a different material to use.

Gridfinity's default size perfecly matches Ikea Alex. Coincidence? 🤔

Gunpla Storage Post

This is the expanded version of my 3D printed Multiboard display for my model kits. All but 3 of my assembled kits are up there. It's a bit chaotic, but I definitely have more available wall space than floor space.

There's still some finishing work to do, but im quite happy with how the new faceplate for my van's auxiliary air valve came out.

If Id printed it the other way around (face up instead of face down) the gasket surface wouldnt need any real cleanup, but it wouldve added a ton of supports and my nfep is nearly worn out (I find supports stress it far more than large faces). 2 minutes of sanding isn't that big of a deal.

In the late 1990's and early 2000's, for ripping plastic optical media, there were a number of different homebuilt robot arms for changing through stacks of discs. All of this was before the #reprap project brought #functional3dprint ing to the masses...
I haven't been able to find such a project which actually uses 3D printed parts. I kind of wonder whether it would be possible to build something an awful lot like the Sony 100+ disc jukeboxes but with a raspi or something for both ripping and writing

Okay. Got the printer settings for the new resin calibrated, now I can actually print the parts for my intake.

3d printing saving my van yet again.

Ill post photos of the test fitting process tomorrow.
