If anyone was curious: I ended up making an old recipe from a book my mom has - one of those ones put together by the Ladies' Auxiliary of the legion where she grew up. Or similar to that anyhow, it was either that or a church group, basically β€˜old favourite recipes from our homes to yours’ kind of deal.

Delicious pickles. Will probably make salsa soon, I am going to have tons of tomatoes to use up very soon.

August 12 harvest and some tomatoes put in the dehydrator.

Another pail of cucumbers that was 5 lbs / 2.3 kg, 3 summer squash, 1 zucchini, some flamme and chadwick cherry tomatoes, and 2 little musk melons.

2 trays of Principe Borghese, and 2 of Sweet Tangerine in the dehydrator. I sprinkled a little bit of salt on them too.

#ferment #sauerkraut #FoodPreserving hooray, I did it! I accidentally broke every rule under the sun in the process, but there is no mold, no jelly and it tastes like pickled cabbage, so I call that a win. Learned so much and can't wait to make a ginger bug next week.
House smells of garlic, bought a tray of peeled garlic , used some in my jar and pulled some out to make more chilli garlic paste, then very thinly sliced the rest and are now in the dehydrator.
Dried Thai chillies at the beginning of the week. #fooddehydrator #FoodPreserving
I dehydrate a lot of food. My first dehydrator was a round American Harvest and it lasted about 20 years and always dehydrated everything evenly and fairly fast. That company doesn't exist anymore so I replaced it with a Nesco. It works but takes forever and I have to rotate the trays. I broke down and got a Cosori that costs more than I would usually pay but has fabulous reviews and huge capacity. Here's its first use with ten trays, 1/2 bushel of apples. #Dehydrating #FoodPreserving

The forecast for today is 12C with wind and showers. It's as good a day as any to fire up the #dehydrator and pump a bit fruity heat into the shed...

Picked more peppers today for dehydrating and chopped them all up with the other bucket full from last week.

Quicker chop job, just removed the bulk of the core and seeds and then sliced the red ones and put most of the yellow ones through the food processor slicer because I was getting tired of slicing peppers. The yellow ones have thinner skin too so less worry of too big of chunks.

Red Marconis and Sweet banana peppers.
