Once again, a (QLD state) government strategy document supposed to guide how we do "science and innovation" does not mention the importance of open source, nor open science / open research.

The only 3 mentions of "open" in the 24 pages are:

- "open for business"
- "open pathways for growth"
- "opening [a] manufacturing hub" for farming robots

I swear, this country is so backward on these topics.

Of course, "growth" is used 14 times.

I love #proprietary #software it has so many possibilities these stinky #floss licenses would never even allow

Hey fedi,
I'm looking for #floss / #opensource recommendations for software to create flyers, posters, zines and such.
So far I've used #Krita for designing things and #Scribus for creating the PDF files my print service wants. But it didn't feel like the best approach.
I also used #inkscape, e.g. for moderation cards.

Is there another software I'm missing out on? (Never got cozy with GIMP)
Am I on the right path and just need practice?
I'm also happy to hear about good guides :)

Pls

@py2toz as far as I know the project is under a mit license.

Look for example at the

Possible Alternative firmware:

I haven’t tried out but looks promising.

Interesting read on #Techdirt about #AI generated code, #copyright, and a possible future for #FLOSS.

Like with regular text content, I'm confused about the copyright status of computer code, computer binaries, and exactly how much human effort is needed.

That said, the idea of FLOSS turning into shared #GenerativeAI prompts seems unlikely but not impossible. Maybe we should do this defensively before hedge funds do it offensively?

Can Agentic AI Coding Tools Finally End Copyright For Software While Re-Inventing Open Source?

Most of the discussions about the impact of the latest generative AI systems on copyright have centered on text, images and video. That’s no surprise, since writers, artists and film-makers feel ve…

@pixelate So 3.9 billion users should not be able to install clean, privacy respecting, verified reproducible #FLOSS apps from #FDroid because...? Ah, they're not advanced enough, off to the Play jail with them... off under the the proved abuser umbrella with them...

@besendorf
> #FDroid is an App Store that does not allow developers to sign their own apps

Why lie though? Developers can always sign their own #FLOSS verified #reproducible built apps, we host almost 1000 of those.

Many developers choose not to submit to #Google, hence no matter if they sign or not, it does not matter if you download via Github, Obtainium or Accrescent, their apps won't be installable anyway.

If the #keepandroidopen site does not make this clear, please say so.
