Ziemlich sicher. Ein modifiziertes #GNOME ist natürlich weniger konsistent. Meines Wissens nach verwenden und unterstützen sie aber #DashToPanel.
Ein bezahltes Modell ist auch viel nachhaltiger, weil gerade Neuanfänger wahrscheinlich oft nicht spenden, weil sie ein proprietäres ausbeuterisches System kennen, das "das Geld schon irgendwo her bekommt".
Perfekt ist es aber sicher auch nicht. Jede Distro hat ihre Vor- und Nachteile.
Und #KDEPlasma sollte man auch nicht vergessen ;)

Das Resultat wird um einiges zuverlässiger sein, die Technologie ist offiziell aber noch "beta".
Aus eigener Erfahrung würde ich deswegen erstmal #Debian empfehlen, #Almalinux hat theoretisch noch längere Update-Zyklen, kenne ich aber nicht gut.
Als Desktop ist #GNOME einfach und schlicht, eventuell die Erweiterung #DashToPanel für ein traditionelleres Windows-Layout
