There were two guys photographing something with big lenses at a duck pond yesterday. I didn't think they were interested in the omnipresent mallards. And they weren't, it turned out. Amongst the ducks was a common moorhen that had seemingly decided to winter here. It is definitely not a common bird in Finland – even in the summer.
But then I saw the bridge, birch and willow on the other side of the pond. There was potential for a photo, I thought. The fog, western jackdaws and hooded crows did not detract anything from it either. The fog almost obscured the power lines. As usual, I started waiting for someone to walk into the photo.
As you'd expect, keeping an eye on two things simultaneously is not a recipe for success. I decided to focus on the bridge, and I like the photo a lot. There is one particular detail I am proud of. As for the moorhen... Well, it is a photograph. I did not want to trouble the bird too much. Maybe later in the spring when there is more light.
