The ruin remains of the Falcon Works Pottery factory in Hanley, Stoke-On-Trent.

Originally built in the 1890s, the site housed five kiln ovens arranged around a central courtyard. It began with earthenware, later producing fine porcelain and hotel wares. At its peak, 200 people worked here.

The site closed around 2000. Recently, it was demolished (the legality of which is undergoing investigation!)

This factory closed down over 40 years ago. Once it produced top-quality brooms and brushes, out of this workshop on Broom Street (yes, that did also make me chuckle!)

Sadly it was demolished a few years ago.

🏥 The old mortuary at North Staffordshire Hospital, Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire. Demolished 2021.

The morgue is in a separate building, attached to the pathology and hematology labs. Three large mortuary slabs and two dissection tables are overlooked by a shielded viewing area. There are several old-style body storage fridges, as well as larger, more modern “walk-in” varieties.

🏥 North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary, Stoke-On-Trent. Without a doubt, my favourite abandoned hospital! So many old operating theatres date from between the 1920s and 1970s; many still had power when I explored a few years ago. Sadly, all these areas are now demolished.

More photos of all 6 operating theatres, and all the other areas I explored - https://www.obsidianurbexphotography.com/medical/hospital-morgue-s/

The remains of Falcon Works, located in Hanley (Stoke-on-Trent, England). Demolition work started on this Grade II Listed building earlier this year, but the council halted work while investigations were done into concerns about if the historic kiln had been damaged.

Enjoy my platelets #StokeOnTrent!

That took me 63mins, a pint of squash, a cup of tea, one KitKat and an orange Club.
Whilst donating I also caught up on my backlog of #rss feeds.

Went for a walk around Westport lake on #StokeOnTrent today. An amazing haven for wildlife given it's in the middle of an industrial landscape. Walking alone the canal we were admiring a couple of grey wagtails when a kingfisher flashed past with a fish in its mouth. It landed in a tree opposite and proceeded to beat it against the branch and the swallow it.
Unfortunately didn't have my good camera with me so this is the best I could do with my phone

I should really read up on #StokeOnTrent, which formed from a federation of 6 towns. The situation there was undoubtedly different, but there still might be helpful things to learn. #OuseValley #OuseValleyUrbanArea #Huntingdonshire
