Anthropic’s Evaluation of Chain-of-Thought Faithfulness: Investigating Hidden Reasoning, Reward Hacks, and the Limitations of Verbal #AI Transparency in #ReasoningModels
A key advancement in AI capabilities is the development and use of chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning, where models explain their steps before reaching an answer. This structured intermediate reasoning is not just a performance tool; it’s also expected to enhance interpretability. If models explain their reasoning in natural language, developers can trace the logic and detect faulty assumptions or unintended behaviors. While the transparency potential of CoT reasoning has been well-recognized, the actual faithfulness of these explanations to the model’s internal logic remains underexplored. As reasoning models become more influential in decision-making processes, it becomes critical to ensure the coherence between
@mastodonmigration @GottaLaff Obviously, all #SATCOM is insecure.
X-Band - based #MILSATCOM use proprietary encryption systems.
The best in terms of #COTS AFAIK is #IridiumPTT which does #AES256 over the air (if not the entire #IridiumNext system except legacy services) but that is a fully-managed solution with custom, embedded hardware.
Whereas most commercial satellite Internet is insecure af, tho I'm shure Ukrainians know how to setup their own #VPN!
@mastodonmigration @GottaLaff noone relies solely on #Starlink, espechally given it's big-ass dishes.
Even the #US #DoD uses #Iridium & #UHFSATCOM.
#SES & #Eutelsat have various commercial #Cband, #KuBand & #KaBand transponders for bidirectional data from their GSOs.
#Ukraine has both #Fiber and #Radio links (civilian and military) to link together units and emplacements. Espechally direct-burial/lie-flat fiber is used because #COTS parts are cheap, commonplace and unlike copper, they can do 160km+ without amplifiers with ample of room for splices.
Pretty shure Starlink was a mere "comfort feature" allowing units to send their drone footage from their FOB to HQ for instant #Meme|fication and "scoreboard updates" but I'm shure worst-case the #NAFO friends will just pack in some 2,5" SSDs and USB cases with the next supply trucks or have some #Skyhook-Style delivery system if that was ever needed.

I have not looked into this for quite a while so I have no definitive suggestion here, just brain storming.
I had been looking into geographically dispersed replicated storage. Those not deeply techically inclined could use #COTS storage such as #QNAP or something else. This is not an endorsement that was just a name that I remembered at this instant. More technical could use homebrew R-Pi or some other #OpenSource solution. A limited number of people could

Kleinsatelliten: Leistungsfähiges Datenmanagement im Orbit
"
"Erdbeobachtungssatelliten sammeln große Datenmengen, während die Übertragungskapazitäten zur Erde begrenzt sind. Spezielle Computer, sogenannte Data Processing Units (DPUs), speichern, werten und komprimieren diese Daten direkt im Satelliten – effizient und zuverlässig."

@ustralien Granted, @frameworkcomputer makes it super easy to #replace as they use one single #Torx bit and document their stuff and actually sell you the parts unlike #Apple...
They could've done it like #Lenovo did with some #ThinkPads and include a smaller internal battery so people don't have to shut-down to swap, or like #ToughBooks and even some old #PowerBooks just have more than one slot for a #battery to get chugged in.
Cuz the #DRM on Lenovo's devices prevent 3rd parties from building some once Lenovo decides to not give a shit anymore...
@ustralien Sadly no, and that's my big disappointment!
@frameworkcomputer decided to choose the #Apple-esque "flat cells below #trackpad" design in the unreasonable #THINN-ness race instead of doing what even the #EeePC and #Sony's #Vaio #P11Z did and have a slot at the back to chug in batteries!
Not that I don't like those #modules, but I'd rather wish for a "#THICC-er" device if that gets me essentials like #Ethernet, #USB-A & -C as well as a #TRRS #HeadphoneJack / #HeadsetJack.
That being said the #Framework is still by a long margin the "least #enshittified" device on the market, and same goes for the #Fairphone devices...
Not to mention they don't have an #UltraNav-Style #Trackpoint and I do use that instead of a Trackpad.
