The only solution to this #enshittified #wifi was to log in using vanilla #Firefox. Neither #Waterfox nor #ZenBrowser are insecure enough to allow me onto this #HotelWifi.
This does not speak well about Firefox.
So I'm a hotel with #enshittified wifi. My Linux laptop can't connect to it bc my browsers are like, "Hell no, we're not touching that corporate surveillance crap." So...

Peter "Lackaffe" FröhlichSpent some quality time last night with an old buddy who's still in academia doing the professorial thing. Heard about how crazy it is to get funding now with everything having been looted bone-dry by Trump and his cronies. Heard about how crazy the student "AI" shit is now and how he's glad that some of his courses are complicated enough that "AI" doesn't really help much.
But also heard how tired he is of the whole game, of the institution going down the semi-corporate shitter, overrun with idiot deanlets with zero academic credentials, with faculty getting more and more "administrative" tasks piled on but not having the power to implement anything anymore, and with IT that's more terrible than what a bunch of CS undergrads would have put together 8 years ago.
So ... yeah.
Kudos if you're still holding out, hoping for things to get better, maybe. I doubt they will. And I think he doesn't believe it either.

What #FOSS #selfhosting options should I consider? Requirements are multiplatform clients (iOS, Linux, Firefox extension), self-hosting on Linux, and i guess 2FA support but I'd also prefer a separate 2FA client on iOS that is also FOSS.
Any suggestions?
