@reiddragon @marado yes, and if those #TechIlliterate people would be honest to themselves, they'd admit that their needs would.be perfectly met with a #Pi400 / #Pi500 kit and it's preinstalled software.

Am I the only one remembering @vwestlife video about the #K3Wintel or are #ShortCorcuit only up for #Clickbait here?

Personally, I think there should be more such devices like the #RaspberryPi #Pi400 & #Pi500 because they make way more sense than an #AiO in a screen!

  • Also I wished there was like a mini LCD to clip onto a #Pi400 and just plug into the #GPIO for power (extending it) and into the HDMI for display...

@sloanlance @rasmus91 @bagder @ThePSF OFC the comparison is oversimplified, but when you look at it from the surface, the #RaspberryPi #Pi400 is basically the modern interpretation of the concepts we saw with #ZXspectrum, #VIC20 and other #8bit systems.

  • Just with modern specs and interfaces...

And #Python makes it easy to "make stuff go brrr!" and the @RaspberryPi / @raspberry_pi / #RaspberryPiFoundation and their excellent guide which is free to download as PDF and included in the #Kits for Pi400 & #Pi500 makes it easy to do things and overcome any problems along the way, reducing frustration and increasing happyness for beginners with easy to follow step-by-step guides.

  • And #Python is at the hard of that!

@socketwench If you want to go #minimalist, you could try a #Pi0W2 with a keyboard & screen.

  • But yeah unless you want a craptastic #amd64 mini PC with seperate power bricks, then the #Pi500 should be a good option.

I just wished there was like a proper #Setup for @ubuntu / #UbuntuLTS #Desktop for it that also allows setting up #LVM-based #FullDiskEncryption on #RaspberryPi…

OMG I'm tempted, glad I didn't pull the trigger on the original pi 500. RGB back lit keys, an in built SSD, proper keys.... Think I need to order a ultra wide screen to go with it. @meluzzy @wyatt @link And I think it's important to understand that not everyone wants to have an engineering-sample - level of access to the insides.

  • The reason #RaspberryPi's are so popular is because they offer a easy, well documented platform to get shit done, and if I had to setup some cheap #PC classroom (with no access to #surplus / #refurbisher|s nor need to use #amd64 architecture-only software and -devices) I'd propably buy #Pi500 kits and matching screens.
