It was already a good looking keyboard but now itโ€™s almost perfect.๐Ÿ˜ These keycaps are great - I do wish there was a break key I could use instead of pause but close enough. #bbcModelB #keyboard #gorton

Most disgusted look I've ever got:

Me, 15 altered the BBC Model B Speech External module to say "this is *NOT* the BBC speech module".

Computer Teacher at an Open evening in front of parents of prospective grammar school students: *****"looks at me"*****, then alters the code back to "this is the BBC Speech Module"

Remember the BBC Micro promotional marketing material I showed on a recent unboxing video of mine?
I now have them framed and they look amazing. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I remember it as being a bit larger - probably in my memory it still has the CUB monitor and floppy drive. And a connection to a networked hard disk which has 10mb (!) of shared storage. 10! Mb!

The old ads are especially nostalgia-inducing for those of us old enough to recall that first wave of home computers, who bashed away in BASIC and loaded and saved to audio cassette with our 16k RAM, or perhaps a muscular 48k or even 64k!

Oric Atmos, Dragon 32, BBC Model B, Vic-20, even the enormous "portable" version of the Commodore 64!

That is not the worst part, however. A few months before our home was closed for being uneconomical the county council found it had a lot of money left in their account. As a result they bought new furniture, a new computer (a #BBCModelB+ that was never used) and even a snooker table. There was other stuff to but the above is what I can recall, and it was just so their budget would not be cut for the next year.
Why is there a golden BBC Micro in the Science Museum?
