Went back to Ridge Racers 1 on PSP last night.
Thinking I would play half an hour, perhaps an hour and then play some more Lumines, but before I knew it, we were 3 hours later and I started having trouble looking at the screen due to exhaustion.

It's been many years since I played it, but I wanted to go back to the very first PSP game I played 26 years ago when I got it not long after the Japanese launch as Lee from Videogameimports kept pushing me into getting one. 😄

Preaching to the choir here, but man, does this game look gorgeous even all these years later.
The atmosphere is out of this world, especially during those dusk races where the sun reflects off of the pavement perfectly, giving the whole scene a warm, cozy glow.
Or how the lights in the tunnels light up the smoke from drifting.

I honestly feel that this 21+ year old looks better than most Switch racing games.
Sure, the art direction is doing a ton of heavy lifting, but still.
Can't wait to play more tonight.

loving people posting all those pics of their modded #PSP consoles and it made me want to dig mine out, so here it is. it's a silver PSP 3000 Kingdom Hearts special edition that was a Japan exclusive. I picked it up complete in box from ebay a few years ago

it's modded with Infinity Pro-C (I think that's what it's called) haven't felt the need to update it to that newer Ark firmware as it works perfectly as is

Getting ready to try and hack my #PSP. New battery and memory card have arrived!

I knew that I had a mini USB cable stashed somewhere, but I had to rummage through a few boxes before I could find it.

Along the way I also found my old Sansa #mp3 player and charging cable. Unfortunately it looks like this one is too old and is unable to run #rockbox

The rubberized back is also pretty nasty but a little isopropyl alcohol should take care of it.

The one PlayStation Portable (PSP) game that I've loved since the day I first played it decades ago is Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2 in VERSUS (fighting) mode. I think this game nails short‑range and long‑range fighting at the same time—and that's not an easy feat.

Anyone else love this game in fighting mode like I do?
