Hardware I returned to Xfinity this afternoon. The Arris telephony modem was about 20 years old. The cable box / DVT was not much younger.

We dropped cable TV, VOIP, and stopped renting modems (bought my own Arris S33v3) very recently, saving hundreds of dollars per month on the bill.

Actually - if the current #Fascist #Authoritarian Assaults on speech and the internet continue unabated - we may need to revert to #dialup point-to-point connections with the old #modems that made that sound.

Although I dont think an analog modem would work over a cell network. Hmmm... now I made myself curious...

Also there used to be external #Ethernet "#Modems"...

Like this one that can be found on the History section of the Ethernet article on #Wikipedia...

So it's not impossible to facilitate something like that.

Just a 10/100BASE-T adaptor connected via RS-232...
