I'm gonna throw this out there because, if not Mastodon... then where?

Anyone still obsessed with any of the following:

#BBCMicro #Apple1 #Apple2 #Oric #AcornComputers #CommodorePet #6502 #6502 #65C02 #MosTechnology #6502Assembler

@Jyoti the Acorn Electron was my first computer. started learning BASIC programming on it at a young age, i was truly fascinated by the idea i could make this box display whatever i could think of on a television screen

@xaphania I used to LOVE programming when I was a kid but I never kept it up. Now I look at Python and I'm like aRHGHGHgg.

I can't believe I used to do 6502 assembler: https://bzangygroink.co.uk/archives/2005/02/23/6502-assembler-fun/

6502 Geek Memories

When I was tidying up earlier, I came across this book. I remember unpacking it when we moved in but I’ve not looked at it properly in years. Maybe decades? Looking inside the front cover, I …

@Jyoti Python is about all I can manage these days. I'm going to try advent of code this year to get back into the swing of it
@Jyoti Sometimes you just need something simple - this is at my day job, doing useful work!

@2e0rtb You have no idea how happy that pic makes me! The first computer we had was an Apple IIe, I loved it! I remember it came with a game with a bunny and carrots? Or did I dream that?

I remember writing a rudimentary drum machine program on it just using ASCII and arrays to store 8 x 16 steps. The sounds were pokes! I wouldn't even know where to start tyring to that now in MacOS or Windows.

#Apple #Apple2e

@Jyoti You didn't dream it, it's on the demo disk "Apple presents the Apple //e" which came with many new systems!

There's still plenty of us out there using an 8bit Apple, although these days a card with a USB flash drive can emulate four 32megabyte hard disks at once! Luxury!

@2e0rtb

THAT'S THE ONE!! 😮

omg childhood memories flooding back!

I was AMAZED by those graphics!

@Jyoti Quite obsessed with #Commodore #retrocomputing, especially the #CommodorePET and #Commodore64. I grew up in the 1970s and 80s in the same town as Commodore’s headquarters and had a #C64 and #Amiga

@mjgardner That's soo cool! I have four ST(FM/E)s but no PETs or 64s or Amigas.

Have you seen this:

https://youtu.be/CVq_jzj_u8U

I bought one and have the ST core loaded.

It has the same great MIDI connections as the original ST so my dream is of a modern sequencer running on it.

If I had the coding chops, I'd write one.

#FPGA #MISTFPGA #FieldProgrammableGateArray

What is the MIST FPGA computer?

@Jyoti yep to most of those :)
@Jyoti hmmm.. .i was too broke as a kid for all that.. i could only afford to be obsessed with my TRS-80. oh, and HP Calculators.. but I'm intrigued..
@sergio_101 Oh, I never had a BBC B myself, we had them at school. They were sooo expensive, like £399 back then which would be... £1,405.27 now. :-O

@Jyoti seen the Commander X16? 8bitguy missed those days so much he designed a fresh build.

@Jyoti ugh. Thanks for the heads up.
@bendingoutward No worries. I was very disappointed in him as I used to like his channel and the keyboard one too. :-/
