Glad I decided to redo the axle seals and brakes. First of all, the gear oil was *black*, with a burnt smell. No metal shavings, but very close to causing issues. Second, I had leaks around both axle seals. And third, the brakes had ahout 25% of their useful life left.

Everything's done! New seals, gaskets, rotors, and pads. Plus, I got a geat deal on a differential cover, and I've got an extra quart of fluid capacity now.

Wish I'd taken more pictures, but you can see how bad things were before I started!

Today I decided to do some work in the garden,
And I unpacked and moved my new trailer axle.
The helped Sue move some heavy planters,
And break up the wood cladding around our water tanks.
Stashed the tanks in the back garden,
And took the timber to the tip.
Also took plastics and old tyres,
Good to get more stuff cleared.
That was enough for me,
I rested for the afternoon,
Emailed work,
And did the caretaking job.
Then had a natter with Mum,
Reminding her of the building works to come.
Rested on the sofa,
And watched a Bruce Lee film on DVD.
Tired now,
Going to bed.
