The great enstrippening has begun!
All that's left on my beloved Kona are the parts I can't get off because, being the damned fool I am, I left it down the side of the house for two years. Yeah, the post be rusty. Oh, and I don't have a way to get the headset cups out without doing some damage to either the frame or whatever I'm resting the frame on. So I'll get it in a vice at work and do it there.
After everything is off, my buddy the paint shop manager is going to get it shotblasted, resprayed, and lacquered. The only downside is that when I do finally manage to source some replacement decals, I'll have to get them lacquered over again. But the one guy I found who can recreate them wants something like £50, which I can't really justify. I can probably recreate them myself, and get them printed up by a firm we use for decals and signs, but it'll take me a while to do.
After that, I'm going to fabricate a bracket to mount to the disc mount I welded to the frame so I can use a more modern post-mounted disc brake. I can possibly get something machined at work from aluminium, but more likely I'll bust out my old welding skills and knock something up from steel.
Soon she'll be back on the trails!
