So my second bike trailer has absolutely proved itself out. But I'm still using the original tyres that had been abandoned outside with the frame for like two years. They have very little usage wear, but do have a zillion cracks in the sides.
What I've done 'til now is coat the sides with a tube of heavy-duty outdoor silicone glue I had left over from something else. The tyre sides are not bulging when inflated, and also weren't bulging before the glue. And the cracks are all covered.
This seems to be working fine, but it feels like I'm asking for trouble and if I want to be smart about it I really, really should replace them. They're a standard size so I can.
Am I in fact asking for trouble or is this probably fine?
