The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Angel Fire was established in 1971 by Dr. Victor "Doc" and Jeanne Westphall following the death of their son, 1st Lt. David Westphall, in Vietnam. It was one of the first national sites dedicated to Veterans of the Vietnam War.
