@ufm just suppose:

* as the markup - no hidden context (typical for HTML, PDF, etc)
* as the protocol - how to properly open linked resource

imho, those protocols are not about the giving, but maybe excluding extra features usually blocking by addons, information #minimalism, plus new experience
