Il Fatto Quotidiano: Bbc: “In Iran giustiziato anche un giovane campione di lotta libera”

Tra le tre persone giustiziate ieri dal regime iraniano c’era anche lo sportivo Saleh Mohammadi, 19 anni, membro della nazionale iraniana di lotta libera. A riferirlo sono fonti citate dalla Bbc. Le esecuzioni sono avvenute nella provincia settentrionale di Qom, dopo che la Corte Suprema ha confermato le condanne a morte, come riportato dall’agenzia di stampa iraniana Tasnim. I tre erano accusati di aver ucciso agenti di polizia durante le proteste antigovernative di gennaio, secondo quanto riportato dai media statali. Secondo l’agenzia Tasnim, i tre uomini sono stati condannati anche per “moharebeh” – aver mosso guerra a Dio – una delle accuse che l’Iran usa per emettere condanne a morte contro manifestanti e oppositori della Repubblica Islamica.
Secondo le organizzazioni per i diritti umani – come riporta la Bbc – i tre uomini avrebbero confessato sotto tortura e sarebbero stati giustiziati senza un processo. La loro morte è avvenuta un giorno dopo l’esecuzione di un cittadino iraniano con doppia cittadinanza: iraniana e svedese. Parliamo di Kouroush Keyvani, impiccato dopo essere stato riconosciuto colpevole di spionaggio a favore di Israele, secondo quanto riportato dall’agenzia di stampa giudiziaria iraniana Mizan Online. Secondo quanto riferito, Keyvani è stato arrestato durante la guerra di 12 giorni tra Iran e Israele lo scorso giugno.

BBC: “A young freestyle wrestling champion was also executed in Iran.”

Among the three people executed yesterday by the Iranian regime were also athlete Saleh Mohammadi, 19 years old, a member of the Iranian freestyle wrestling national team. This was reported by sources cited by the BBC. The executions took place in the northern province of Qom, after the Supreme Court confirmed the death sentences, as reported by the Iranian news agency Tasnim. The three were accused of killing police officers during the anti-government protests of January, according to state media. According to the Tasnim agency, the three men were also convicted of “moharebeh” – waging war against God – one of the charges that Iran uses to issue death sentences against protesters and opponents of the Islamic Republic.

According to human rights organizations – as reported by the BBC – the three men allegedly confessed under torture and were executed without a trial. Their deaths occurred a day after the execution of an Iranian citizen with dual citizenship: Iranian and Swedish. We are talking about Kouroush Keyvani, hanged after being found guilty of espionage for Israel, according to the Iranian judicial news agency Mizan Online. It is reported that Keyvani was arrested during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel last June.
