The CyberwitchBut also I was raised among the most obvious and paternalistic arrogance of "I know this church is true" ringing in my ears from all sides. The certainty that people crave and cling to, and in turn lecture and enlighten all the lost sheep. The arrogance to tell POC that their own historical traditions are wrong and some white aldulturer's extremely violent but somehow boring fanfic is their actual history. Maybe I just needed this extremely obvious example smacked across my face to get it.
Because that arrogance still manages to stick around in "ex" communities and broader liberalism. Deconstruction is about learning to be humble enough to be curious again. Simple curiosity and a few honest "I don't knows" would solve a lot of the worlds problems right now.
