If you think "It's a real shame what's happening to the Jews." but you don't chime in when someone says "But Israel" or "But Zionism" or "It's understandable" or any of those things because you "don't want to get involved", ask yourself if you'd feel the same way if we replaced Jews with another group. If someone in your social circle said something about gay people, or trans people, black people, immigrants, or Muslims, would you say something?
Speaking up is about making the society you live in better.
Speaking up says to the targeted person "You're safe." and it says to the hateful person "You can't do that here when I'm around."
When you don't speak up, you're saying the opposite.
If you speak up for those other groups, if you wear pins, and have hashtags for them on your profile, but not for Jews, you're making a clear statement. You're saying "You aren't someone I care about."
