At the allotment this afternoon I cleared the final quarter of the squash patch having removed the purple sprouting plants
I’ve sown seeds in the 3 other quarters: squash or courgette, sweetcorn and climbing French bean
Look what is poking through the straw. Potato vines!
We put some down on a bed of straw and covered, enclosed by a piece of fencing
When they get a little bigger, we will add another layer of straw and cover.
We will keep adding layers until we get to the top then let the vines take off over the fence.
We had a naked spot in the front yard. Thought we would give the no-dig potato planting a try

We toot post our progress.
We are trying different methods of gardening so I can physically help despite my #ParkinsonsPlus #mobility, #AutonomicDysfunction and other issues that have hindered my gardening in the most recent years.

The corn is growing and the beans are in.
In little over a week, we will plant the #pumpkins, #squash, #melons, #cucumbers, #watermelon & #zucchini
The #SweetPotato are taking off in their bags.
The mounds are done and the corn is planted.
We have taken the side yard and made it essentially a #NoMow zone.
The clover we planted last year is full and rich and hopefully will continue to take over what is left of the "lawn". It will serve as the border to the garden. Going to over seed the clover again.
When the corn gets around 5 to 6 inches high, the beans goes in!
The rows, marked by yellow, will be raised, boxed beds for veggies. #gardening

We're using #3Sisters technique for the bulk of our vegetables that @penny eats but the remaining yard will be in the #EnglishGarden style, which has nothing to do with #Indigenous North American #Agriculture, as we try to reduce our lawn.
Are you ready for some #gardening
A week late on planting the corn but we have until June 1st.

Watch this space!
Today is Friday, May 19th.
Saturday, May 20, the mounds will be made and corn will be planted. #Marigolds and #Sunflowers will be planted also.
Next we wait for #beans and #pumpkins, #squash, #melons & #zucchini planting time.
While we wait for the corn, raised beds around the edge will be made for traditional garden plants like #tomatoes, #peppers, #lettuce, etc.
The Pilgrims were illegal immigrants, but the Americans still used them as farm workers to pick corn.
