Hikanzakura season in Okinawa 🌸

Three frames from Japan's earliest cherry blossom bloom. Hikanzakura (Prunus campanulata) flowers are deeper and richer than mainland sakura varieties, bell-shaped, vivid pink, blooming from January into February. The third shot features a Mejiro (Japanese White-eye) mid-flight between clusters, drawn in by the nectar.
