Alright. Most of today was spent refactoring (and occasionally ranting), after a protip by @queenofsquiggles sent me down the path of converting a load of stuff to #GodotEngine custom resources.

Eventually after much drama, I managed to get back to where I'd started, functionality-wise! Ah the joys of refactoring.

Still, in the last ten minutes I did get to add a new thing, we now have a(n ugly but working) population counter for the lil hex town! Woohoo!

Today has mostly been fixing errors and redoing bits of code that had comments like "# TODO This is trash"

Also added a basic victory condition, so that we technically now have a whole start-to-end game. It's currently the worst game to ever exist, but still.

Alas, UI in #Godot continues to confound me.

We made it to the 4:30 sunrise! And I got some animation and audio tasks ticked off my list overnight, too.

Ok so for some reason I can't quite fathom, we're off out on a trip to see the sunrise tomorrow. At like 3:30am.

There is no way in hell I will ever wake up that early and be happy about it, so staying up for an all-night #GameDev session it is instead!

It's getting late, it's just me, my laptop and a hot cup of tea. Goal for the night is to start figuring out how animations work in #GodotEngine. We'll see how it goes!

(Excuse the #CrossStitch detritus in the background I am bad at tidying up one hobby before moving onto the next 😅​)

Sadly fate didn't mention that one object in my placeholder farm model was going to decide to just...not interact with light in any way?

It uses the same material as everything else, looks and behaves the same way under light in Blender, but remains stubbornly unlit in Godot.

It'll turn out to be something very simple of course, but for now...how odd!

Next task on my list just reads "make it into a real game" so I think it might be time to break that down a bit now...
