Ok so for some reason I can't quite fathom, we're off out on a trip to see the sunrise tomorrow. At like 3:30am.

There is no way in hell I will ever wake up that early and be happy about it, so staying up for an all-night #GameDev session it is instead!

It's getting late, it's just me, my laptop and a hot cup of tea. Goal for the night is to start figuring out how animations work in #GodotEngine. We'll see how it goes!

(Excuse the #CrossStitch detritus in the background I am bad at tidying up one hobby before moving onto the next 😅​)

We made it to the 4:30 sunrise! And I got some animation and audio tasks ticked off my list overnight, too.

Excellent start to the day, although now I've had a couple hours sleep and am ded 😅

@teahands my partner has some kind of an alert app on her phone to buzz her when the Aurora northern lights are visible. It'd be pretty cool to see, but it's gone off a couple of times since she got it and we've both sort of just half woken up, weighed up how cool it would be vs how nice being in bed is, and promptly gone back to sleep...

On the flip side, we've previously driven out to the middle of nowhere in Cumbria to watch shooting stars at stupid-o-clock.

@dev_ric Oh man, the quest for the northern lights. Even going to Iceland and staying up late there didn't work. I'm starting to think the whole thing is a scam!

Tomorrow's trip is apparently an attempt to right some wrongs from two years ago when we did a beach sunrise trip, got a great timelapse of the whole thing, and then in my tired state I managed to delete it irretrievably 😭​

@teahands you don't have much luck with beaches, it seems!

I used to know an American lady who lived in the Wisconsin mountains (literally, in a caravan pretty much disconnected from the world), and she sent me various pictures and videos she'd taken of them. In Windows 95/98 era I wrote a screensaver based on her videos - basically just a colourful game-of-life like partical simulator thing, but it looked cool. That's the closest I've gotten to seeing them myself. Geek but not great...
