Resigned, then I was fired. What to do?
I am a 100% Disabled veteran (if that matters), with 6 years active military service. I have 2 years of federal civilian service with Federal agency A. I had a break in service of over a year before I joined Federal agency B last year. I have been out on paternity leave and decided with everything going on, I really don’t want to return. So when my paternity leave ended, I gave my 2 week notice. I am still in my probationary period (set to finish January 12th) since I am with a different agency. I received an email today that due to my status as a probationary employee, Federal agency B has decided to terminate me, effective tomorrow. It is pretty wild that I am fired with 24 hour notice while working out my 2 week notice. My questions are as follows: Is there anything I can do to dispute being terminated?Should I bother? Will this effect my ability to return to Federal employment in the future?I do plan to return to the Feds in the future, under a different political climate. If it matters, I literally JUST received my annual performance review less than a week before turning in my notice and there was nothing negative, I’m not on a PIP, no write ups or anything else derogatory.
