@kushal Toon Boom is probably the most well-known and has been around for a long time, but it's expensive commercial software.

#Krita has animation capabilities, is free and open source, but isn't a dedicated animation software.

#Blender3d is the mac daddy of free and open source, does 2d and 3d and compositing and unfortunately has a very steep learning curve. It's incredibly powerful if you can understand it.
