Alright folks, for those that would like to follow @haveibeenpwned on Mastodon, I've now set up an *official* account.

There are a bunch of fake ones around the place on other Mastodon instances, the legit one only follows my account and has a *verified* link through to the website.

Also, shoutout to me for temporarily breaking the website by linking through to the full Mastodon URL without properly escaping the @ symbol in the Razor syntax. It's been a big day 😅

So I understand that the bird site has started blocking links to common/known Mastodon instances, and that doesn't seem like free speech to me. So... I did a thing.

If you go to https://spacekaren.sucks it is now a URL shortener that blocks the twitter user agent. That means you can share that link that will redirect to your Mastodon account without the pouty baby stopping you. Here is what I have learned in a couple of weeks on #mastodon. Use what you like, ignore what you don’t.
— Introduce yourself properly so people can get to know you and be genuinely interested in what you do and what you say. This is not all about celebrities and pretend to be one. This is not #twitter.
— If you want to reach people that may be interested in what you post, you need to use relevant #hashtags, otherwise only those that follow you and those following those that #reblog your post, or tooth, will see it. This is not #twitter.
— Everything on the timeline is in chronological order — I guess that was the original idea about calling it “timeline” 🧐 — there is no #algorithm and people search for what interests them using hashtags. This is not #twitter.
— If you favorite someone’s post is a nice way to appreciate what they say, but it won’t help in amplifying that post. If you want to do so you need to reblog. There are no algorithmic bubbles nor advertisers to harvest your data and tell you need to buy some socks here. It’s a bit more work but so much more real. This is not #twitter.
— Don’t be an asshole. Nobody like bullies, trolls, liars, or disrespectful attitudes here. We like to consider our instances our #communities. So again, don’t be an asshole. Why? Well, this is no #twitter.
