It's also one of the most environmentally devastating uses of the underlying hardware.

Wait, what? 1/ Read the 2nd post

Via Sherrilyn Ifill:

This is actually huge.

Seth Masket:

Trump says he gave #Iran permission to bomb US airbase. Any other president would have been impeached before sunset
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2025/jun/25/trump-says-iranians-asked-us-time-could-bomb-american-military-base/

2/ Sherrilyn Ifill knows what the Washington Times is, folks. She didn't have to rely on them. It's been reported everywhere. She just happened to quote post this one.

Here's the quote. I don't post fake news, nor does she, FFS.

@farah There's no "end". Remember that. You don't, one day, "achieve enlightenment" (if that's even a thing; debatable) and then you can just lean back and rest. It's work, and the work doesn't stop.

But just as impermanence teaches us that a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts, so too does continual work teach us that a goal isn't a good idea because it's achievable, but because it inspires us to continue to try to be better.

I might normally use a phrase like "be better today than you were yesterday", but even that is unrealistic and sets one up for feeling like a failure.

It's been said that every choice you make is a vote for the person you want to be. You don't have to win all the votes, just most of them. Whenever you can, make the better choice. Each better choice moves you in the right direction.

Try. Aspire. But forgive yourself. Then try again.

Look at me, trying to sound like I'm all that! 🤪

@farah I don't think compassion implies forgiveness. I can understand and empathize with someone, acknowledge their essential humanity, and still think they are evil.
Still struggling with compassion for terrible people. Does it ever get better?
@farah I always think it is good to practice compassion! Wanting better for those that don't want better for you shows a deep connection to your humanness that the people you're struggling against lack, but it's also good to have healthy boundaries and draw strong lines, so as to not let people walk over you or use your heart against you. You can stand up to people compassionately!
@NadiaPurge
I'm immediately thinking about how often we hear unhinged, literally criminal adult behavior called just "a tantrum". No, girl; those are legit warcrimes being committed by people who know exactly what they are doing.

If small children behave a certain way when scolded or disciplined out of bad behavior, I need you to get real data on how adults behave before you start giving advice on actual geopolitics in 2025, based on kids under 12.

Catch up to the conversation or go back to training children to be better adults. That's where you have expertise.

It is batshit af to assert you have anything helpful to add to ADULT CONVERSATION if all you contribute is about children instead of the timely issues at hand.

@GottaLaff Relax, folks! It's just another episode of "The Apprentice: White House Edition"
@GottaLaff Sounds like a scene from Catch 22 where they carry out a bombing raid on their base as part of a trade deal.
@GottaLaff He got the idea from watching Fail Safe, perhaps.
@GottaLaff
Yeah, we all saw that 💩.

@GottaLaff So, if true - he gave them permission to “totally obliterate” (as they did to Iran…allegedly) an American military base and he evacuated all but the gunners - who were left to defend the base alone but were expendable?

Ummm…
🤔

@nonproductive @GottaLaff did the gunners survive?
@deborahh @GottaLaff I don’t believe there were any reported casualties.
@nonproductive @deborahh No casualties, no radiation
@GottaLaff This is beyond ridiculous.... these people are all certifiable!

@GottaLaff

Laffy, I depend on you and Sherrilyn Ifill and you're both reliable reporters.

But couldn't you either/both just once follow up one of these terrible reports with "Haha, JK, here's a kitty picture."

Ok, never mind, I just read what I wrote there. Carry on.

@GottaLaff I think it's nice television respects health and safety
@GottaLaff he sees war as a business transaction.
@MatthewChat He sees war as a way to benefit himself in a number of ways. It's always about him

@GottaLaff every sentence that he says indicates a need to be in control:
- Iran is bombing an airbase? We were told about it in advance, the base was evacuated anyway
- one missile went through the interception barrage? We did that on purpose, missile was not threatening anything anyway

Total bullcrap.

DOGE in DOGE out

@GottaLaff FIRED! SO FIRED!! WHY HASN'T HE BEEN FIRED?? WTF AMERICA
@mousey Fired? Are you referring to Trump?
@GottaLaff hell yes.

@mousey Okay, then I'll answer you. "Why hasn't been fired?"

Presidents don't get fired. They can be impeached, then convicted.

That takes a House and Senate that wants to do that. Republicans are in power. It won't happen.

The Sup Court ruled that Trump "is entitled to immunity from federal prosecution for official actions he took while in office."

So, no, the US cannot "fire" him. That's not how it works.

@GottaLaff that's how it would work if we *set* him on fire though. Just sayin'.

@GottaLaff

What The Flying Fvck, Laffers? We are heading for an Apocalypse at full speed. Look out for the mythical Four Horsemen.

Might have to hold my nose and reread the totally fictional book of Revelations.

The make-believe Beast of the Sea will be along momentarily.

@SherBeareth I know. He's determined to destroy everything.

It gets increasingly hard to cope every day.
