It’s a shame to see Sci-Hub falling for web3 hype and adding a pumpfun memecoin ticker to their webpage. Blockchain-based DNS does not automatically mean “decentralized”, and 3DNS — the company behind .box — is based in the US and would be subject to US court orders.
Someone unaffiliated with Sci-Hub created the memecoin, claiming to be fundraising, but said only 20% of proceeds would go to Sci-Hub. Founder Alexandra Elbakyan herself condemned this.

Turns out the battery was just wrongly calibrated. It spent a solid 3-4 hours at 0% battery before turning off 😂
I am going to let it drain to 0% overnight on the bios screen and charge it to full. That should fix it once and for all.

A tough pill to swallow. But if true, a society that views donation to non-profits as just optional and praiseworthy is evil. It led to #wealthgap , #climatechange , #enshittification and #latestagecapitalism .

My laptop failed to suspend and drained all its battery. It was at 0% battery for many hours in -10°C temperature. When I charged it, it's almost dead running at 10% capacity.
Is this fixable or should I replace the battery?
One significant way Mastodon and the Fediverse have transformed digital culture is through the use of alt text. When I look back at my older images online and in my blogs, I rarely included alt text - even though I actively work on accessibility. For some reason, I simply overlooked it.
Now, every time I post something online, I take a moment to write alt text. Mastodon has changed my mindset, and I believe its impact extends far beyond this. The Fediverse encourages a level of consideration for others that no other social networking platform has before.
