Newsom’s Big Oil Lawsuit Targets Roots of Climate Crisis

In New York, Gov. Newsom said repeatedly, “The climate crisis is a fossil fuel crisis,” receiving well-deserved applause at the otherwise staid Climate Ambition Summit. This is important, because many people do not know that more than 85% of U.S. greenhouse pollution comes from oil, gas, and coal

Other leaders should follow Gov Newsom

Michael Benton's book Extinctions argues mass die-offs are creative, because they pave the way for new organisms

This is true but is only comforting from a geological perspective: living through one would suck

(Good thing we aren’t causing one, eh?)

Extinctions review: A fast-paced story of going extinct on Earth

Days of mass death on Earth are dramatically captured by Michael Benton in his book, Extinctions. It's well-told and gripping, but real palaeontology afficionados may crave newer stories

Getting off carbon would cost less than that.

In Canada, Trudeau is spending $25 billion to make oil pipes bigger, make oil ports bigger so he can export oil faster, burn oil faster..

A city councillor, Jack Layton, got a million dollar windmill built in Toronto as a demo, it serves 500 familes, 500 homes.

1 million - 500 families
1 billion - 500,000 homes
25 billion 12,500,000 homes

And that's just the money being spent on the pipeline, not subsidies.

World's beaches are changing because of climate change - green thinking is needed to save them

Coastlines need to be recognised as dynamic, shifting environments rather than as environments that need to be controlled and managed.

"The scale of ecological destruction cannot be overstated," Nature Conservation Council representative Clancy Barnard told the inquiry.

"We have a choice to make — do we protect native species or allow an introduced feral animal to lead to their destruction?" https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-08-23/wild-horses-senate-inquiry/102754926
