Reposting this article I posted a couple of days ago. It is very well written and covers much of an ongoing debate and consensus on species adaption. I personally, have been guilty of saying that Earth's ecosystem would bounce back with absence of human involvement, and that has been traditional thought, but it seems that was incorrect.

...the bullies, tyrants, and imperialist #colonizers always seem to claim that the driving forces behind their mass murders, genocides, and other atrocities are to achieve some "higher ideals" of logic or morality...but, if so, why do their "superior" ideals require barbaric murder, brutal cruelty, and the perpetual bloodshed of others (overwelmingly, historically and increasingly, those who have caused them no more harm than perhaps harsh words that bruised their egos...if even that)? ...why also is their suffering, or murders so viscerally "unacceptable"?

...clearly they seem to believe their blood and its presevation is more sacred than our own, but dont their "principals" cancel themselves out as niether logical nor moral? ...and how can triggering multiple #massextinction level events across the #globe we all share by birthright possibly lead to a "higher purpose"?

...even they cannot eat ashes, yet they are determined to see the entire #world burn?

C. M. Lowery et al. (2026) discovered a quick #recovery of #marinelife after the #massextinction ~ 66 Ma ago. They calculated a new #calibration using the #biostratigraphic #marker (#Helium-3 from 6 K/Pg boundary sites) and dated the #duration until the recovery of the #foraminiferbiozone of 3.5 k.y. - 11.1 k.y. after the boundary, instead of former theses ∼30 k.y..
