Kicked-off #ESASCBO2022 with a postgrad students’ workshop at the University of Wollongong yesterday. Naturally, I got distracted by the awesome natural history display in the building’s foyer 😋

This is a very thoughtful piece on the concept of #wilderness. It’s a word that, today, is used to describe places that are untouched by people… and it’s a faulty concept because:
1️⃣ it’s current meaning evolved in the 19th century to justify separating #NativeAmericans from their land & erasing their history
2️⃣ #ClimateChange affects the entire planet. There is no place untouched by humans.
