Silas opened her eyes, something was very of. It felt like everything was slightly tilted to the side and gravity couldn't resist to tilt as well. She couldn't remember how she got here. In front of her was a eerily castle, no a house. It shifted its size got smaller Silas could have sworn. She realized that she wasn't in her uniform, it looked like a cheap Kigurumi or a animal costume, but it felt like standing up to the neck in warm worms or being surrounded by eels. She tried to get out of that costume but she couldn't. Her fingers where numb inside the gloves of the costume giving her paw like hands. She wanted to scream but their was a mask preventing her from it. It blocked her jaws from moving but... something in side the costume moved... It felt like a giant tongue.
Silas screamed.

Charleston Trawella Chief Engineer aboard the Ghoz'Tarc:
"I'm needed all the time, chief engineer isn't something you don't want to need and even if ASHLEI is incredibly sofisticated in repairing her self but her drones have limitations and she only can maintain most systems. I constantly regulate and recalibrate Systems developing strategies and theories to improve the performance and output in case of combat. And of course I monitor the prototype stuff I installed on the refit.
But really needed, I felt as Arkham asked me for input on her little pet project inside one of the containers. I have a bit more insight into that than most others I guess and if it works it might be revolutionary for her and the Alliance/Union."

Who should the readers be “rooting for” in your WIP?

The "good" folks and hopefully some background characters as much as parts of the antagonists team, writing faceless henches with recognizable characters... I already had better ideas ...
If people root for the BBE - Aliens I will have failed or not? Pro tip don't add tentacles to your Aliens in this DNAge if you want them to be disgusting, wayyyyyyyyyy to many things I have seen... (Not to kink shame but the Internet is a dwell of... Wonders). 💩😬😅

Is there a mistake your antagonist keeps repeatedly making in their life? Explain.

Several because no reliable short to long term memory transition after a certain point in their life. Usually AJ looses their memory as soon. As the brain begins to clean up, usually if they are asleep.

How have your writing sessions been this month?

*Nervously laughing*... Well... If my writing was physical which it is even if it is only stored digitally, the device is physically. In theory it goes very well plot points resolve and ideas sprawling... In my physical brain.
Not so much on paper or it's digital equivalent their is a reason I gave my progress 4 snails.
Since it's all theoretically physical and all in my mind, I could call myself a theoretical physicist in the field of Star Ryde...
Wow, that doesn't sound convincing at all not even to me. But really my progress is very slow and only thing I can claim that I am at least write a bit every month.

How does your MC view the gentler, daintier things in life: as things worth preserving and caring for, or things only bound to wither and disappear?

Kira fights for them to the blood.
This is what the Union is all about preserving the most stress less, most gentle and fair way of living for every citizen and non citizens alike.
This is why the Union Fleet exist that is the pure defense fleet (defense means they react, not that they aren't deadly and devastating) this is why the Alliance exist (they are the attack fleet) this is why the shades exist (they are the scalpels or sledgehammers) what ever is needed to win against inner and outer enemies of the Union.
Never before have 6 species united against a intergalactic threat, never before have 66 other species joined such a Union, and keeping it alive, its core values of decency, freedom and existential rights defended, that is what Kira fights for.➡️

Arkham is not as a steadfast believer in the Union as Kira, Kiras dedication is sometimes even a bit alienating for her. Arkham has seen the downside of the Unions efforts as she ran away from home & landed on a rim close world that struggled to keep the ideals & habits of the Union alive. She knows that the Union is the biggest political entity in galactic history & knows it's the very best for everyone to keep it alive, but she doesn't trust politicians to do that. She has seen that it depends on the creatures that live under the rule as much as the enforcer of that rules. That said, she will defend people & peoples rights.

Ashlei is the most pragmatic about this, she is programmed with the Unions core values, thus she doesn't doubt, that they are right & everything making live more livable is worth protecting, thus she supports the supporters/defenders & does what she can to protect them.

Plan: Anika VS Kira
they may be love each other like twins, despite being not even really related by genetics, but they are also often at opposite ends. Anika excels in Improvised & quickly assembled tactic missions while Kira is more in to long term strategies. That said both have more successes as they have failures & able to deal with the tides of a battlefield.

Following usually are Rose, Talisa and J.
The 3 Lady's are what is generally called "a Groundhog" infantry soldier's deployed from space ships for special missions, usually they get accompanied by a pilot and one or two Captain/XO/etc. Even if anyone of them is able to 'control' a whide range of smaller crafts regardless of the environment & knows how ➡️

Barely do things go really sideways, but that would be J.
People like J. exist in a lot of teams, the one with the explosive stuffs, that knows how to draw attention and to lay devastating traps.
Some people refer to people like her as Warthugs or Ramppigs (well at least that's a close translation) which aren't really flattering & may earn the speaking one a jab onto the jaw or 2.
It helps that she has 198 cm
(6 feet 5 61/64 inches*) of height & is build like the T800 models of the Terminator from the Terminator Franchise.
A lot of the crew is somehow connected to her. J. is their aromantic Soulmate, she will carry you on the field as she will carry you in live, cracking a joke or moderate creepy flirting with you while carrying your hurt butt through the mudd & as a certified field medic she makes sure you survive.

Is there a food that reminds your MC of home?

Kira, the Knox Family Chili which has as many iterations as you can grab random ingredients at the location you're at. While on shore leaf Kira cooks sine after the original family recipe she remembers since she watched her mother & her father cooking it together. She later found a recipe in the inherited house as she moved in. From this fresh chili she takes a part of & dry "freezes" it, around a liter, it's her special ingredient for the local chilli while on mission & she keeps a block as a special emergency ration.

Arkham loves Terran street vendor food & enjoys traditional food from the Indian region basically because it doesn't reminds her to home.

One would think Ash wouldn't have a favorite food but indeed next to the reactor energy the Ghoz'Tarc creates Ash likes pure sunlight. Luckily the skin of the Ghoz'Tarc is basically & extremely advanced solar panel.

Do you think about your audience or write primarily for yourself?

I mainly try to write stories that I myself find compelling that said, I also want LGBTQIA+, People of different skin tones, nonbinary, tech interested, disabled, abled and SciFi fans to feel welcome and trusted with a complex story. I don't want to invent the SciFi wheel new but maybe build the next version of a wheel something like a smart wheel.
What I don't want people that are pervertly rich assoles putting themselves above everyone else, I don't want them to feel welcome in my worlds, because they aren't.
Our global society has people that are hellbent on making life for others worse, such people I wish that they getting a very bad itching in places they can't scratch, for the rest of their existence and hopefully dispelled from even touching my work. Whatever that for a target audience would mean...

Tell us about something that will always make your SC laugh.

XO Jenkins is a person that has a lot of passion in his not on duty time. He & his husband have a costume tayloring workshop where they produce their own cosplays/costumes for themselves, the local theater/movie/NIN entertainment group & even produce on demand for people all over the union if their time allows it.
He smiles every morning on shore leave when he wakes up next to his husband. On missions he is very reserved & mostly enjoying his time alone, thinking of his husband & what crazy costumes they could come up with. That's the times he smiled the 2. most.

Describe a “happy life” according to your antagonist.

AI: Never talks about that but it's often talked about doing the right thing to preserve the Union etc it's questionable how much of this is real & how much just sound a good enough to convince others.

Ariaene Johnsen/AJ: For AJ it's their dream of going back to the life they lost. Together with their wife & soulmate Kiara. Running the backery & restaurant they dreamed of in their home colony after their service time. But life was different, now AJ seems to seek revenge or a cure for their shattered memory, in days where it isn't as bad, one of AI's henches often takes time & talks with them, otherwise acting like a personal assistant, in this conversations AJ often feels good enough to enjoy the moment. Sadly they isn't able to make a long lasting memory in print to remember this feeling in a regular basis.

Tell us about your MC’s past or current jobs. What are their skills?

Kira: Alliance Military since her first Praktikum as a trainee with 14. She went through S.H.A.D.E.S. training a special forces training to develop leadershio skills on a galaxy wide level. Special training in several different melee combat variants (as far as application goes between different species), endurance training, weapon training, piloting different sized space vessels, climbing, infiltration, programming in 3 different languages, basics of space travel, ship maintenance & space walk, diplomacy (that one thanks to her adoptive mother).

Arkham was unemployed on the streets before she entered Alliance training with 18/19 and was fast tracked to Flight Command Officer do to her piloting skills and quick thinking. A lot of Kira's skill set is mirrored on Arkham training minus the special S.H.A.D.E.S. training & of course both don't ➡️

2/2 ⬅️ have the same skill level. A lot of overlapping Skills sets exist inside a crew but this is mainly do to the fact that you never know what you need on board a space ship.

A.S.H.L.E.I.: The intelligence of the Ghoz'Tarc wasn't really existent before she was created for the main reason of creating the next level of artificial intelligence.
Unlike LLMs or limited intelligences Ash can learn from her own "thoughts", interactions and access her goals, the shear amount of raw data she can handle & repack into biological individuals digestible data would easily surpass today's existing data on the Internet. Most of this capacity is used to control the ship & run diagnostics, scanning etc.

The Ghoz'Tarc was retrofitted for stealth missions, her basic design is that if a short range patrol vessel but that only accounts for the space frame at this point. Everything else is completely new.

Have you had to cut anything significant from your WIP? (Either for plot, cleanliness, redundancy, over explanation, or pace and literary effect.)

Not at this point I'm aware that the most of my world building won't end up in my final version (but that's my own "fault" because I'm working on a multimedia franchise guide for far more than a SciFi book because if I grab for the stars why choose the nearest) and that I probably have to cut down some parts but that's a future me problem.

The current me has enough problems writing consistently and even getting surpassed by reality with my predictions...
Hahahaha... If j only have written this story earlier.😅

Or that other stuff seems proven to be impossible... Another reason I restrain from hard SciFi because more Sci we get the more it's decreases the fictional possibilities of space travel and vast space as the final frontier well no problem going Space Opera...☠️😅

Kira: "I love music the most, next to writing which in the end comes out as the same art material but not expression I would say. Dancing is another art expression I pretty much like, dancing has given me a lot of insight into my body's movement capabilities that influenced my martial arts abilities quite positive, Parcour is similar in its application of learned skill sets but most people don't think of it as art. It's like dancing on walls while climbing.
Musical wise I prefer the antique genres of the late 20. & early 21. century to the point of the earlier 2020 as people got this idea that their prediction algorithms where artificial intelligences. Sadly only a few songs of this times have survived the changes Terra went through.
Of current music I like pretty much everything Samara's Tears do.

Arkham: "Music, dancing... I like crafting, I dipped into material design lately & especially the Somwhar crafts but nothing springs out as my favorite. Through Kira i found 20 century Jazz which has this volume that modern Spazz at least Terran made lacks somehow. I like good NIN dramas especially the emotional multi track variants where you can feel & relive the situations from more than one perspective simultaneously. I just love feeling the emotions of 2+ persons. It's a bit overwhelming to be true but i can manage that, even sped up."

Ash: "I was not programmed to value specific arts more than others, but music fascinates me."

On average, how long are your writing sessions?

I only can say that answering and reading others answers to the hashtag prompt games I follow and participate takes around an hour a day.

For actual fiction writing I have not the slightest clue, the problem if I have an eye on the clock I act like a writing opposum...
Pretend to be dead in hope the hour passes telling myself it's okay that I have done so little in an hour (most times it ends up as research and some copied links into the frame works for worldbuilding).
I just write and if you ask yourself how I do this on my phone my mini clock next to the front camera is covered by a glued on camera cover to slide around. So I have to actively pull down the drop down menu to see my clock or return to the lock screen.

I always find my writing flow in more narrative conversations so im most productive if my mood is good. Which isn't a given with depressions and today's world.

What species / ##### is your MC?

Gosh about the German Penned Possibilities yesterday "that second word" that's one I hate...

I eradicated it so far almost completely and I don't plan on using it again.
That said.

Kira is a Terran spacer even if she wasn't born on Terra & lived most of her life in space, 1st with her biological family & later after finishing the academy again.

Arkham Terran shore people that lived most of their life's on solid ground like Terra itself even if they aren't born their.

Terran also is a bit misleading because it's applied to people originating from Terra and people living on Terra so a Xeno Person like a Somwhar living on Terra would be considered Terran too.

Technically Ash would be a spacer, her Program was developed onboard a space station and she never was longer on ground than a week also I don't think Spaceship counts.

What are your favourite genres{of media} to read{consume}?

I prefer futuristic settings & have a strong distaste for most fantasy.
I read it but I doesn't stick that much with me. Exceptions like Terry Pratchett's Discworld exist.

I love SciFi, Space Opera (with a big SciFi Element like Mass Effect & less Space Fantasy like Star Wars).
Cyberpunk, Dystopian, Utopian stuff, a bit Grim Dark & some HFY* as long as the Aliens aren't to stupidly portrait to basically survive in ANY reality, seriously some portraits of Aliens are so dumbed down you start to doubt, that they couldn't breath, if their life would depend on it & of course Humans who know how to breath are so bad Ash overpowered mother lucky maker because of this & so unique in the galaxy... Just don't.

LGBTQIA+ Romance/Kinky stuff are also a favorite of mine especially with a lesbian focus (others not excluded, gender expression over assigned gender**).

Oh & Psychological/Body horror.

"The GNDN field fluctuations today.
Little Bugger seems to be moody. Can't tell if it's a dampener problem or that the space surrounding us is just unhappy with ships tearing apart it's structure to breach into the sublayer.
Okay, I have to say especially unhappy, normal space just seals itself behind the intrusion, but that's what the Nirnquist part of the Garcia Nirnquist Dilatation Network is for ain't it?
If you didn't slept in Astrophysics, you know it's the thing that keeps us in a relatively stable time & gravity while on board any ship, especially while ryding. Without that we couldn't even use the bloody R.Y.D.E. We would be fresh mashed Terrantato flying around in a space tin can. No offense A.S.H.L.E.I.

Is there anything unusual in your MC’s home?

How do you define that in a SciFi setting?

Kira, owns lot of physical media that she stores in her house.
The house is quite empty (it was meant for 5+ people after all) and she basically lives in a sort of apartment which would be considered 2 rooms today around 50 cubic meters.

Arkham, not really in her home even if it is her house and she owns the furniture etc, a complete restaurant equipment.

Ash... Ash lives in outer space as outside as it can get because even outside of atmosphere so "in her home" we find the entire universe, such drawers really get completely absurd in case of 24. Century intelligent star ships...

Kira, well it is literally quite the opposite for her she never had nightmares (she could remember) before the tragedy of loosing her family as a child gave her plenty of that.

Arkham that her hated mother was right about somethings in Arkham's life.

Ashlei is not programmed to have dreams, maybe something of worsheeping electricity after the merge with Kira?

What signals to your SC that it’s autumn?

The Terran calendar. Every planet has seasonal shifts as long it's not tidally locked to its star, but the effects differ widely. From the Terran homeworld Terra, to the Somwhar homeworld Khalil, Rim World's Like Eodin with its mostly human population or Asza prime the Asza'Ni homeworld, each planet has a similar cycle to what Terra has which some resemblance of 2-32 seasons, same goes for the 1.000. of other planets that can support life. Even non similar worlds that more resemble Venus have seasons, when the sulfur gets smelling more like sulfur & the acid rain erodes everything that isn't molten in the oven like atmosphere. Between the stars only slow traveling ships simulate seasonal changes & not to mention that every species or society has different names for it. So if you look for autumn you might find it on the calendar of Terra.

Is there any mythology around the afterlife in your world?

The Children of Khalit, also known as the Somwhar, believe that they join their species ancestors if they lived an honorable live.
Khalit being the mother who brought them to life, their homeworld, the Asza'ni call them the Khali'ni for that reason, while the Somwhar insist that the Name of Khalit must be spoken entirely.
The afterlife is portrait as a never ending party of hunting, arts, as an eternal dance & enjoying live with their "parents." Between Khalit, also called Mother Khalil at times, Khalil is the language the Somwhar speak & it's told that she taught them how to speak, their father or seeder, basically the sun & the guardian, the somber ex partner of Khalit who now watches her child's, wiping away tears of sorrow & joy, from afar as their sworn protector, giver of water & peace, the moon of Khalit.

What does your MC think of when autumn comes to mind?

So far that hasn't crossed my mind, mostly because the crew hangs onboard the ship & autumn, as we know it, is a thing that doesn't really exists anymore on Terra. Their are similar seasons elsewhere and it still exist in the calendar, but the damage to Terras ecosystem was quite severe.

On some uninhabitable planets it might be the time where they get space radiation blasted the most.

Kira on duty/board is very different from Kira not on duty/board.

Kira on board or duty, usually wakes up 2 hours before her shift begins 15-5 minutes before the alarm clock goes of if not something went wrong. She wakes up instantly and very abruptly. Stretching and yawning she grabs her Water bottle and empties it (only 250ml). She grabs her cloth from a nearby flat surface or from the drawers next to her bed taking a 3 4 8 shower (15 minutes, 3 getting wet, 4 soaping up, 8 washing away the foam). cup she gets a second and does left over paperwork or waits til 15 minutes prior to her shift and starts walking towards the bridge arriving there in 4-10 minutes depending of other circumstances.

At home/not on duty she never uses an alarm & prefers to wake to the first morning sun, gently opening her eyes and getting up in a sort of slow motion, grabbing a sip of water, getting into her "bathrobe" checking mail while drinking a coffee or tea from the timer controlled machine in the kitchen. She takes her time breakfasting something solid, showering, brushing her teeth afterwards, while reading the news, she than meditates or does some yoga like movements.
If she doesn't have nightmares that it's less relaxed and more disturbed looking/erratic.

And since I don't want to clutter the TL to much I spare Arkham and Ash at this point. And I'm also to tired to do so.😅

Tell us about your MC’s nighttime routine as well.

Same with yesterday answer I skip Arkham and Ash.

Kira: as soon as it is sleeping time Kira stops her after shift duties (mostly "paperwork") slips out of her uniform, puts it on a flat surface (if she plans to wear it another day) or gives it into the cleaning chute.

She prefers to sleep in underwear while on board, but she has a set that is her sleeping set, she than puts on. Giving her day set into the cleaning chute. Mentally checking what she has to care about in the morning before her shift begins (if any paperwork was left etc). She than thinks about a white or a black wall, at times a gray one and falls asleep.
