I'm 14 pages into my Planetary User Manual where I'll record the specifics of any custom planet I make for an author or GMs/DMs, etc., using the planet Antinous as my example. I haven't even gotten to the part where I describe how to look at the planet on a globe instead of a flat map.
Planets are complicated, and anyone who hires me to make a custom one for them will get quite a lot of detail. I just finished adding fire risk to several of the biome descriptions.
"Is that the World War where Germany and Japan were definitely the baddies or the one where they were on the least worst side, your awful history is both wild and repetitive....just as well we made Contact really...'your minds needed to be blown', as the old quote goes..."
It was stories of Galactic Empires which inspired me to make my own in Worldbuilding, now I'm finally putting form to the vast story of meta-civilisations, meddling Precursors and planets named after 1000 year old Terran memes.
I know there are others like me out there with their own galaxies and histories, it's the joy of Worldbuilding!
If you hear Jungle music, it's because all Galactic starmaps play Jungle. I don't make the rules.
The Hard SF Worldbuilding Cookbooks:
Are you a sci-fi author? From moons to supernova, this series offers details, visuals. Write a story - have the science as needed.

A lot happens during the development phases of a fantasy map so donโt feel intimidated if things feel vague at the start. Itโs an ongoing journey and once itโs complete, the real adventuring will begin, for GMs and players alike!

I ran a pivotal session for my first D&D campaign, which is taking place in my own setting, last night. Serenading new loves, making new arch enemies, discovering banished dragons who love the land, dropping character lore mid-battle: how did I end up with such amazing players at this humble table? Iโm so grateful.
What will happen now that they know that the very land theyโre on is trying to suppress its own memories?
Another #worldbuilding addition to the setting: Scions. Because the Techne's appearance and culture must have appeared somewhere.
